Google Instant....!!...Awesum....!!

Instant Answers in Google

Google's search suggestions started to include instant answers for Math calculations, unit conversions, currency conversions, weather information, simple facts, local time, package tracking, word definitions and more. That means you no longer have to click the search button and open a new page to see the results: the answers are displayed instantly.
"This kind of information will appear in Suggest either above or below the suggested search terms for a variety of queries. For example, you can type "delta 140" to see the flight status. You can also quickly discover the current time, figure out how many Euros you'll get per dollar, or even brush up on metric conversions,"
explains Google.

I just got it installed in my Google Chrome browser....It's FABULOUS....!!
All of you must try it...!!
All you have to do....is to install the latest version of Google Chrome.
Here's a link for saving your time....
http://www.google.com/chrome

Is Google in Trouble..........??

Google has changed how we search the web and the company has been constantly innovating search. Apart from search it has come up with (or acquired) very successful products like – Gmail, Chrome BrowserAndroidGoogle Docs, Orkut and many more.Google’s hiring practices consist of bringing in top computer scientists from best schools like Stanford. The culture has been thriving and delivering great products so far.
The only area Google is lacking is ‘Social Networks’ (and everybody is talking about it right now on the web). Google’s attempts to get into mainstream ‘social’ have been largely unsuccessful with – Orkut, DodgeBall, Buzz, Wave etc. They are a company which keeps innovating and there is already ‘Google Me’ in the queue which supposedly could be the Facebook killer!

Why Google needs to worry about Facebook?

Facebook is really a cool social network but there are 100s of social networks around the globe. Why Facebook is the one that is so concerning google?
  • Google runs on page-rank. A presumption that internet is a web of HTML links. Their search is built around this. The game is changing. Now, Internet is becoming more of a stream of updates from your friends than a web of pages. Now, It is a web of people!
  • Google is great at technology, no doubts but what matters more is people. Facebook is closer to people than what Google is!
  • There are alternative search engines and they work pretty well, if not great. So, there is no reason why people won’t be able to switch their search provider – All they are looking for is information.
  • Facebook is hard to switch as all the friends are there, great apps, likes and interests and much more things that defines identity of a person.
  • Facebook is a ‘Social Platform’ company and they have no shortcomings that can’t be met by partnering with platform developer like Zynga. Google doesn’t have this unique capability.
  • The fact that google is doubling salary and letting them lead the teams for the engineers leaving to Facebook is alarming. This makes it evident that Facebook is the future of Internet in Google’s view and fear of it results into irrational decisions.
  • Google doesn’t have a social context and approach. They are focused on search and the web is changing and so is the search.
  • Partnership of Microsoft Bing with Facebook hurts Google in a big way. They couldn’t foresee this opportunity in the past. Now, Bing is grabbing search arising from Facebook and helping Bing grow their traffic. Google has no access to 500+ million users of Facebook as Bing sits right there!
  • The biggest reason why Google needs to worry is time spent by users on Facebook is 3 times the time spent on Google. Following graph demonstrates the same. People giving more time to Facebook and making it more valuable proposition overall!
Google Vs Facebook
  • Facebook is not just a website. They extend beyond it with Facebook Connect and brings ‘Social Web’ to any 3rd party service. In essence, They are making the whole web more open and social!
  • People are generating a ton of content using Facebook and other social networks like twitter. Google has no or very limited control over this vast content. Thus making Google handicapped.

Why is Google not able to innovate in Social Web?

This is an interesting puzzle and here is how I look at it:
  • Google has not given serious attention to ‘Social Web’ and they thought Facebook is just another social network and assumed that their growth will stop at certain point. But that has not happened and now they’ve been a threat to Google itself.
  • Google’s products save time and are result oriented. The ‘Social Networks’ are about ‘wasting more time’ in a fun way. Google’s philosophy of making great and efficient products doesn’t go well with Social Products.
  • Google has been focused on search and it is best at it. It is generating a ton of revenues for Google. So, Google was not concerned about making web more social.
Final thoughts
The only thing that can make google go social is ‘Google Me’. This is a pretty interesting and serious attempt by Google per some ‘sources’ on Quora. Let’s look forward to it and see what it brings to the table!
What do you guys think about Facebook and Google – who will win in the long-term?
Looking forward to your comments.

India's $35 Android Tablet for the Developing World....!!

Prices could drop to an absurd $10-$20 when these hit scale.

Today, India's human resource development minister, Kapil Sibal, unveiled a $35 tablet computer that will run Linux.  Although it wasn't specified, the device he displayed had thefamiliar notification icons of Android, seen to the right.  Android, is a Linux OS built for smartphones and now tablets by Google under an Open Source license.

"This is our answer to MIT's $100 computer," Sibal said.

MIT's One Laptop Per Child device ,which he is likely referring to, morphed into a $75 tablet a few months ago and is also running Google's (GOOG) Android OS.
Although a camera is not visible in the video below, according to the Telegraph the device is capable of video conferencing.  That's something that the slightly more expensive iPad from Apple (AAPL) famously won't yet do.   It has USB ports as well (Zing!).  Oh, and it does Adobe's Flash too.  Ouch!
The tablet can be used for word processing, web browsing and videoconferencing. It has a solar power option too – important for India's energy-starved hinterlands – though that add-on costs extra.
OLPC's device has a much more modern design and is also supposed to drop in cost as production ramps up.  It will be powered byMarvell's Moby platform and which is capable of doing many of the things Netbooks are only beginning to support.
Moby tablet features gigahertz-class processor speed, 1080p full-HD encode and decode, intelligent power management, power-efficient Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/FM/GPS connectivity, high performance 3D graphics capability and support for multiple software standards including full Adobe Flash, Android™ and Windows Mobile.  The ultra low power Moby tablet is designed for long-battery life.
Still though, India's tablet is an order of magnitude cheaper and the government also plans to subsidize some of the costs for its poorer children.
India has pulled a similar pricing miracle in Automobiles, making more of less with the $1000 Tata Mini (which eventually turned into $2500).
While the Indian tablet prototype looks a little bit rickety, I could see Marvel's device also being used in the first world for schooling and for general purposes around the home.  With the poor economy, a cheap tablet with the right mix of features to turn into a commercial success.

My Definition of "Success"........!!

I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THIS BEAUTIFUL ESSAY WRITTEN BY SOMEONE ELSE IN MY STYLE........

NOTE : This is actually my version of " MY DREAM STORY OF SUCCESS "
COMPOSER : Bryan Tan

Success, is merely a simple word, a combination of letters, but, the state of being successful is something everyone longs and desires for....!!

The definition of success may vary in the eyes of different people. To some people, success means fame, wealth, social standing, reputation. etc,  while others may consider success as a great achievement in life such as running a business, having a nice family, having a good job, etc.
When I was young, success was something unreal to me, something hard to figure out. I would define success as becoming a doctor or an engineer.
But now I have grown up. And now I have probably understood what the word "success" stands for in my life.
Being able to make my dreams come true and being able to make the impossible possible after putting in lots and lots of Hard work and Determination, is what I define success
For me, thanks to GOD, I am good at most things, particularly academics (I am not boasting and I didn't say that I am great at everything). But I am not a nerd...!!
Becoming SUCCESSFUL AUDITOR IN A REPUTED FIRM is what I aim for and what I hope to become in the near future.
Now, as a 17 year old, I am standing at the tip of a mountain, looking up at my career ahead, my future. And my future depends on the way I climb it and the efforts I put into it. The moment I stop trying, that would probably be my stop....!!But, if GOD wills, i hope to reach the peak...and proove that I CAN DO IT....!!....THAT I AM SUCCESSFUL.....!!

Dreams come true if we try to turn them into realities. Becoming a successful auditor is my dream, and would like to put in my best to achieve it. I will try to reach the peak and try to become one of the best in my field.
Being the best in one's field may be the ultimate goal for some people, but for me, success is an on-going process, not a destination. There will be no ending line for my career, for any career.
Keep that in your minds, never say "NO" or "IMPOSSIBLE" to your dreams.

Milk Drain in India - A Bizarre & Unethical Protest

People Draining Milk into Streets

I was truly stunned to see many Indian people
(Political activists) draining 52,000 tons of pure milk into the streets  just to raise voice against India's Malnutrition problem....
Shiv Sena activists drained out thousands of litres of milk in Maharashtra's Satara city against the state government's decision to import processed milk powder. I say what's the problem in doing so...??
If a country's domestic production isn't sufficient, is it not logical to import it from abroad?
Also....the people, raising voice against the government on the malnutrition issue, themselves drained milk inspite of knowing that milk is a very important source to tame hunger in a poor but developing India....
People must understand that with this act, they are themselves contributing to malnutrition. It's a very unethical act on the part of the people.
Even if people have to protest, it can be done in a normal and ethical way....Draining milk is totally unacceptable....

India Unveils Prototype for $35 Touch-Screen Computer

Indian Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal unveils the "laptop" device in Delhi on 22 July 2010
Mr.Kapil Sibal
Minister of Human & Resource Development
Government of India

The Indian government has unveiled the prototype of an iPad-like touch-screen laptop, with a price tag of $35 (£23), which it hopes to roll out next year.
This tablet is mainly aimed for the students. It supports web browsing, video conferencing and word processing.
It was developed by India's top Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) and Indian Institute of Science(IIS) colleges.
The device has no hard-disk, uses a memory card and works on solar energy.
The device was built by India as an answer to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's(MIT) 100$ tablet PC.
The HRD minister said,"The solutions for tomorrow will emerge from India.”

I truly believe with this statement. India has a lot of potential. It's education sector by far could be considered as a very dynamic and prosperous one. If proper steps are taken to keep the brightest minds in India, the solutions for tomorrow would probably emerge from India itself. India, with this high competency and brilliant citizens can truly reach the horizons........

India's CA Results Declared (2009-2010)

My hearty congratulations to all the students who hgave succesfully passed the Chartered Accountancy Exams for the session 2009-2010.
But I really find it difficult to believe that the results for the Chartered Acountancy(CA) exams conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI) are so poor in my opinion, most probably the reason being the  very high level of difficulty in its papers.
But just have a look at the link posted.
There are 310 ICAI centrer across India's 28 states and 7 Unin Territories. From among 1,27,643 students appearing for the CA entrance test, only 487 students end up passing the CA final exams. What the hell is going wrong with the CA results. It's becoming narrower and narrower....
In my opinion, the results are so low because passing is based on the economic play of market forces(DEMAND & SUPPLY).....As the demand for CA's in India rises, the ICAI increases the pass rate, resulting in more number of CA's...and if the demand falls, the ICAI decreases the pass rate, resulting in fewer CA's.....
So this leads to the understanding that students appearing for CA exams are purposely failed by the ICAI even if they don't deserve to have failed....
I believe that this matter must be looked over by the higher authorities.
Is such a case prevalent in the UK's ACCA or the USA's CPA? I guess not...Because there, students pass only if they deserve to have passed...which isn't the case in India.
Also, I believe that the Indian CA institute has a goal of becoming the best in the world with the best CA's....because till now, there isn't a proper college for foreign CA courses in India...this means that to keep up with the interest of the ICAI's goal, can be CA's are failed....isn't this illogical.....??
But in India, all this has a different perspective...." THE COMPETITION HAS INCREASED " among the appearing students motivating them to work harder than everyone else.....and excel in the field....so this is generating highly competent and skilled CA's in India...which is the positive side of this topic....but the negative still remains.........
What can be done?
I have no answer for that....

India has a lot of highly skilled and competent people.....!!!!
And I am proud of it...!!

Greatest Dilemma Ever...!!

this is for all those who land in this very particular situation....
as soon as my final exams at my school came to an end, I received a circular from my school requesting me to choose a stream to specialize and submit it the very next day. since I had been a child, I had always dreamt of becoming an engineer, especially in the electronics field. many a times have i heard that one should do what h eloves most and is food at most. but neither did i hate commerce nor did i love engineering. i was at the intersection. but on that day, everything turned up-side-down. i had to choose between Science, commerce & arts. I was least interested in arts, so arts was cancelled. so now i had to choose between science and commerce. I have many relatives and cousins who have taken up science and become doctors adn engineers. but very few had opted for commerce. the reason being that it was only for average or medicore students. that day i stayed awake uptill 2 in the midnight and finally decided after hours and hours of consultation with my parents and my uncles. and my final decission was to opt commerce so as to become a Chartered Accountant and study ACCA at UK.
i had and still have a number of reasons for taking that step. They are :

1- the commerce stream is somewhat a 'road not taken.' many few people take the commerce stream.
2- it is too a chalenging field.
3- all those people who I have heard of and have opted commerce have reached great heights in their careers in comparison to those who have opted for engineering.
4- in any organisation, the head of the management is always a commerce student.
5- in any organisation, everyone respects the managers the most(including engineers). its because they are on the top.

So because of these reasons and many others i opted for the commerce stream and by far have been successful in it....

I am just chasing my dream which's to become a CA.

so, all those who face this same situation, just listen to your heart and do what you feel is the best.

Where can you study ACCA?

This is a very common question that comes into a person's mind when he's at the stage of deciding where to study ACCA. This was the first question that had struck my mind. I couldn't decide, at first, where to study it. The main reason is finance. If you are financially sound, I would propose you to do it in UK itself. It is because, in UK, you get the right environment, not just for studying, but also for improving yourself in matters like discipline, language, fluency, etc. But for those who would find financing a little bit difficult, you are free to study anywhere.
Most of us don't know that almost every country has an ACCA centre. Even I didn't know that when I was facing this dilemma.
The best site, in my opinion, to know more about ACCA and its locations is:
www.accaglobal.com
This is the main body for ACCA. You can find all that you need right here. There's a page in it that helps you to find a study centre for ACCA in any corner of the world.
