India's CA Results Declared (2009-2010)

My hearty congratulations to all the students who hgave succesfully passed the Chartered Accountancy Exams for the session 2009-2010.
But I really find it difficult to believe that the results for the Chartered Acountancy(CA) exams conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI) are so poor in my opinion, most probably the reason being the  very high level of difficulty in its papers.
But just have a look at the link posted.
There are 310 ICAI centrer across India's 28 states and 7 Unin Territories. From among 1,27,643 students appearing for the CA entrance test, only 487 students end up passing the CA final exams. What the hell is going wrong with the CA results. It's becoming narrower and narrower....
In my opinion, the results are so low because passing is based on the economic play of market forces(DEMAND & SUPPLY).....As the demand for CA's in India rises, the ICAI increases the pass rate, resulting in more number of CA's...and if the demand falls, the ICAI decreases the pass rate, resulting in fewer CA's.....
So this leads to the understanding that students appearing for CA exams are purposely failed by the ICAI even if they don't deserve to have failed....
I believe that this matter must be looked over by the higher authorities.
Is such a case prevalent in the UK's ACCA or the USA's CPA? I guess not...Because there, students pass only if they deserve to have passed...which isn't the case in India.
Also, I believe that the Indian CA institute has a goal of becoming the best in the world with the best CA's....because till now, there isn't a proper college for foreign CA courses in India...this means that to keep up with the interest of the ICAI's goal, can be CA's are failed....isn't this illogical.....??
But in India, all this has a different perspective...." THE COMPETITION HAS INCREASED " among the appearing students motivating them to work harder than everyone else.....and excel in the field....so this is generating highly competent and skilled CA's in India...which is the positive side of this topic....but the negative still remains.........
What can be done?
I have no answer for that....

India has a lot of highly skilled and competent people.....!!!!
And I am proud of it...!!

Greatest Dilemma Ever...!!

this is for all those who land in this very particular situation....
as soon as my final exams at my school came to an end, I received a circular from my school requesting me to choose a stream to specialize and submit it the very next day. since I had been a child, I had always dreamt of becoming an engineer, especially in the electronics field. many a times have i heard that one should do what h eloves most and is food at most. but neither did i hate commerce nor did i love engineering. i was at the intersection. but on that day, everything turned up-side-down. i had to choose between Science, commerce & arts. I was least interested in arts, so arts was cancelled. so now i had to choose between science and commerce. I have many relatives and cousins who have taken up science and become doctors adn engineers. but very few had opted for commerce. the reason being that it was only for average or medicore students. that day i stayed awake uptill 2 in the midnight and finally decided after hours and hours of consultation with my parents and my uncles. and my final decission was to opt commerce so as to become a Chartered Accountant and study ACCA at UK.
i had and still have a number of reasons for taking that step. They are :

1- the commerce stream is somewhat a 'road not taken.' many few people take the commerce stream.
2- it is too a chalenging field.
3- all those people who I have heard of and have opted commerce have reached great heights in their careers in comparison to those who have opted for engineering.
4- in any organisation, the head of the management is always a commerce student.
5- in any organisation, everyone respects the managers the most(including engineers). its because they are on the top.

So because of these reasons and many others i opted for the commerce stream and by far have been successful in it....

I am just chasing my dream which's to become a CA.

so, all those who face this same situation, just listen to your heart and do what you feel is the best.

Where can you study ACCA?

This is a very common question that comes into a person's mind when he's at the stage of deciding where to study ACCA. This was the first question that had struck my mind. I couldn't decide, at first, where to study it. The main reason is finance. If you are financially sound, I would propose you to do it in UK itself. It is because, in UK, you get the right environment, not just for studying, but also for improving yourself in matters like discipline, language, fluency, etc. But for those who would find financing a little bit difficult, you are free to study anywhere.
Most of us don't know that almost every country has an ACCA centre. Even I didn't know that when I was facing this dilemma.
The best site, in my opinion, to know more about ACCA and its locations is:
www.accaglobal.com
This is the main body for ACCA. You can find all that you need right here. There's a page in it that helps you to find a study centre for ACCA in any corner of the world.
